Author Guidelines

These Author Guidelines provide clear instructions for authors who wish to submit manuscripts to Nafenzi Press. They are designed to ensure consistency, academic quality, and ethical integrity throughout the submission, review, and publication process.

All authors are expected to read and comply with these guidelines prior to submission. Failure to do so may result in delays or rejection of the manuscript.

1. Scope and Types of Publications

Nafenzi Press publishes scholarly and educational works that contribute to the advancement of knowledge, literacy, and public understanding. Accepted publication types include:

  • Academic monographs
  • Edited volumes
  • Research-based books
  • Professional and policy-oriented works
  • Educational and reference books

Manuscripts must align with the thematic scope, editorial focus, and quality standards of the press.

2. Originality and Publication Status

Submitted manuscripts must be original works that have not been previously published, nor simultaneously submitted to other publishers, unless explicitly stated and approved by the editor.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that their submissions do not infringe upon the intellectual property rights of others.

3. Language Requirements

Manuscripts may be submitted in:

  • English, or
  • Indonesian

Authors must ensure clarity, consistency, and proper grammar. Manuscripts written in other languages require prior written approval from the publisher.

4. Manuscript Structure

A complete manuscript should generally include the following components:

  • Title page
  • Abstract and keywords (where applicable)
  • Main text, organized into clearly defined sections or chapters
  • References or bibliography
  • Appendices, tables, or figures (if applicable)

Formatting and structural requirements may vary depending on the publication type and will be communicated by the editor where necessary.

5. Submission Process

All manuscripts must be submitted through the Open Monograph Press (OMP) submission system. Authors are required to:

  • Complete all mandatory metadata fields (title, abstract, keywords, author details)
  • Upload the main manuscript file in the required format
  • Provide any supplementary files or supporting documentation

Submissions that are incomplete or do not follow the guidelines may be returned for correction before entering the review process.

6. Peer Review Process

All eligible manuscripts undergo a structured peer review process as outlined in the Peer Review Process policy of Nafenzi Press.

Depending on the publication type, manuscripts may be subject to internal review, external peer review, or a combination of both. Authors may be required to revise their manuscripts based on reviewer and editorial feedback.

7. Authorship and Contributions

All listed authors must have made significant intellectual contributions to the manuscript and must approve the final version prior to submission.

Any changes to authorship after submission require written consent from all listed authors and approval from the editor.

8. Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors are expected to comply with the ethical standards outlined in the Publication Ethics policy of Nafenzi Press, including:

  • Proper citation and acknowledgment of all sources
  • Disclosure of any conflicts of interest
  • Compliance with ethical standards for research involving humans, animals, or sensitive data
  • Avoidance of plagiarism, fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation

9. Copyright and Licensing

Copyright ownership and licensing terms are clearly stated for each publication. Authors must agree to the applicable copyright and licensing arrangements as a condition of publication.

Reuse, redistribution, or adaptation of published works must comply with the specified license and applicable laws.

10. Revisions and Editorial Communication

Authors are expected to respond to editorial and reviewer comments in a timely, professional, and constructive manner.

Failure to submit revisions within the specified timeframe may result in the manuscript being withdrawn from the publication process.

11. Final Acceptance and Production

Once a manuscript has been accepted, it will proceed to copyediting, layout, and production. Authors are responsible for reviewing proofs and addressing queries during this stage.

Substantial changes after final acceptance are not permitted without editorial approval.

12. Author Responsibility Statement

By submitting a manuscript to Nafenzi Press, authors confirm that they have read, understood, and agreed to comply with these Author Guidelines and all related editorial policies.
