1. Duties of the Publisher
Nafenzi Press, as the publisher, is responsible for:
- Ensuring that all editorial decisions are made independently, free from commercial, institutional, or personal influence.
- Maintaining a transparent and fair editorial process through Open Monograph Press (OMP).
- Safeguarding editorial independence and the integrity of the peer review process.
- Addressing allegations of misconduct, plagiarism, or unethical behavior in accordance with established procedures.
- Ensuring that published works comply with applicable copyright laws and licensing policies.
2. Duties of Editors
Editors play a central role in maintaining publication quality and ethics. Editors are responsible for:
- Evaluating manuscripts solely on academic merit, originality, relevance, and clarity.
- Ensuring that all submissions undergo an appropriate peer review process.
- Selecting reviewers with relevant expertise and no conflicts of interest.
- Maintaining confidentiality of submitted manuscripts and reviewer identities.
- Making editorial decisions that are transparent, justified, and documented.
- Acting promptly and responsibly when ethical concerns arise.
Editors must not use unpublished materials disclosed in a submission for their own research without the author’s explicit written consent.
3. Duties of Authors
Authors submitting manuscripts to Nafenzi Press are expected to adhere to the following ethical standards:
- Submit original work that has not been previously published or simultaneously submitted elsewhere, unless explicitly stated.
- Properly acknowledge and cite all sources, data, and references used in the manuscript.
- Ensure that all listed authors have made significant contributions to the work and have approved the final manuscript.
- Disclose any financial, institutional, or personal conflicts of interest.
- Obtain necessary permissions for copyrighted materials included in the manuscript.
- Ensure that research involving human participants, animals, or sensitive data complies with relevant ethical standards and approvals.
Any form of plagiarism, data fabrication, falsification, or misrepresentation constitutes unethical publishing behavior and is unacceptable.
4. Duties of Reviewers
Reviewers contribute to the quality and credibility of publications and are expected to:
- Conduct reviews objectively, fairly, and constructively.
- Provide clear, evidence-based feedback to support editorial decisions.
- Maintain confidentiality of the manuscript and review process.
- Declare any conflicts of interest and decline review assignments when appropriate.
- Complete reviews within the agreed timeframe or notify the editor of delays.
Reviewers must not use or disclose unpublished information obtained through the review process for personal advantage.
5. Peer Review Integrity
