Retraction

Nafenzi Press is committed to maintaining the integrity, reliability, and transparency of the scholarly record. This Retraction Policy outlines the circumstances under which a publication may be retracted, the procedures followed, and the responsibilities of all parties involved.

Retractions are issued to correct the literature and ensure that readers are clearly informed about publications that contain serious flaws or ethical violations.

1. Purpose of Retraction

The primary purpose of a retraction is to:

  • Correct the scholarly record
  • Protect the integrity of published content
  • Inform readers of unreliable or unethical material
  • Uphold ethical publishing standards

2. Grounds for Retraction

A publication may be retracted if it is found to involve, but is not limited to:

  • Plagiarism or substantial self-plagiarism
  • Fabrication or falsification of data
  • Serious methodological or factual errors that invalidate the work
  • Unethical research practices
  • Copyright infringement or unauthorized use of materials
  • Duplicate or redundant publication
  • Failure to disclose significant conflicts of interest

3. Initiation of Retraction

Retraction may be initiated by:

  • The author(s)
  • The editor or publisher
  • Reviewers or editorial board members
  • Readers or third parties who raise substantiated concerns

All allegations are handled seriously and assessed objectively.

4. Investigation Process

When potential grounds for retraction are identified, the editor will conduct a thorough and confidential investigation.

This process may include:

  • Review of the original submission and review records
  • Consultation with reviewers or subject experts
  • Request for explanation or clarification from the author(s)
  • Assessment of evidence and supporting documentation

5. Author Notification and Right of Response

Author(s) will be notified of the concerns and given a reasonable opportunity to respond.

Retraction decisions are made based on evidence and editorial judgment, regardless of whether the author(s) agree with the outcome.

6. Retraction Decision

The final decision to retract a publication is made by the editor in consultation with the publisher, in accordance with Publication Ethics and editorial policies.

Decisions are guided by the seriousness of the issue and its impact on the validity of the work.

7. Retraction Notice

When a publication is retracted, Nafenzi Press will issue a clear and transparent retraction notice.

The retraction notice will:

  • Clearly identify the retracted publication
  • State the reason(s) for retraction
  • Indicate who initiated the retraction
  • Be linked to the original publication

The original publication will remain accessible but will be clearly marked as retracted to preserve the scholarly record.

8. Partial Retractions and Corrections

If issues affect only a specific part of the publication and do not invalidate the entire work, Nafenzi Press may issue a correction or partial retraction instead of a full retraction.

Such actions will be taken transparently and proportionally.

9. Post-Retraction Actions

Depending on the circumstances, additional actions may include:

  • Notification to relevant institutions or funders
  • Restriction on future submissions from the author(s)
  • Updates to indexing and metadata records

10. Legal and Ethical Considerations

This Retraction Policy operates in conjunction with applicable laws, including Indonesian Copyright Law (Law No. 28 of 2014), and does not limit legal remedies where applicable.

All retraction procedures are conducted with due regard to fairness, confidentiality, and professional integrity.

11. Policy Review and Updates

This policy may be reviewed and updated periodically to reflect developments in publishing ethics, editorial standards, and regulatory requirements.

Any revisions will be communicated transparently through official channels of Nafenzi Press.

12. Official Statement

Nafenzi Press is committed to correcting the scholarly record when necessary and to upholding the highest standards of ethical and responsible publishing.
